APPRAISAL AND SUPERVISION OF INVESTMENTS FOR BILATERAL AND MULTLATERAL INSTITUTIONS
Through its work with multiple institutions in different countries of the region, Omtrix has gained expertise in the appraisal and supervision of over 50 financial institutions dedicated to small and micro-enterprises throughout 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Supervision activities include:
- Monitoring the enabling environment.
- Conducting on-site visits to monitor operations and performance.
- Preparing written reports focusing on analysis of contractual compliance, evaluation of financial, portfolio and operating performance, risk analysis, and recommendations for improved performance.
- Participating as board representatives.
- Providing recommendations on strategic decisions.
- Monitoring financial regulations.
Appraisal and promotion activities include:
- Identifying business opportunities.
- Originating and structuring potential transactions.
- Appraising and due diligence.
- Executing and formalizing of operations.
STRENGTHENING OF MICROFINANCE INSTITUTIOS
Omtrix has actively participated in the institutional strengthening of some of Latin America’s most successful, regulated microfinance institutions. Its staff has played a vital role in formulating innovative solutions to financial and organizational problems by providing services in the following areas:
- Sharing of cross-border industry best practices
- Facilitating access to funds from bi/multilateral and private funding agencies
- Improving operational and financial performance
- Acting as an advisor in the transformation of unregulated microfinance organizations into regulated financial institutions and the merger of unregulated microfinance organizations with commercial banks
- Streamlining organizational structures to improve efficiency
Some of the organizations to which OMTRIX has provided support include: the Interamerican Development Bank (IADB), Grass Roots, Triodos Bank, Desjardines, FUSADES, DAF, DFIN and ACCION Internacional.
BACK-OFFICE AND COLLECTION SERVICES FOR THE SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM (PES/MIF/IADB)
Since 2008, Omtrix has been working with the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) to restructure and collect loans in default that are associated with the Social Entrepreneurship Program.
The objective of the consultancy is to support the IADB in the supervision of the loan portfolio of the Social Entrepreneurship Program (PES). Specifically, OMTRIX is in charge of conducting site visits, analyzing the financial status and prospects, proposing restructuring terms and conditions and supervising the first two years of restructured loans of a portfolio of borrowers of the Social Entrepreneurship Program currently in default in the geographical region of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
As of June 30, 2009, Omtrix had analyzed the cases of more than 50 defaulting agencies in Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean of which, 55 % managed to reprogram and/or normalize the status of their credits with the SEP. |
